Upper Cumberland Macintosh Users Group Meeting Tuesday, Nov 18, 6:30pm. The subject will be formating an external drive for use as a backup and/or using "Time Machine". Question & answer session, as usual. The Upper Cumberland Macintosh User Group meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Cumberland Cove welcome center, 6:30 pm. The group will also meet in Pleasant Hill on (TBD) in Boyce Hall of the Community church. All are welcome. Join us to learn something and/or teach something. The Putnam County WEOC employer forum will be Nov. 18th at 11:30am at the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce. Commissioner James G. Neeley of the Tennessee Dept. of Labor & Workforce Development will be the guest speaker. Topics will include Issues that impact the department, worker's compensation, workforce development and Tennessee's state budget.


November 18th at 5:30pm there will be a Family Engagement Meeting at Upperman High School. All students of Upperman and family members are encouraged to come and take part in our meeting.

Wed. November 19th: 4-6pm. Salem Methodist Church hosts a free bread day behind the church from 4-6 pm. All welcome. Come drive thru and receive a free bag of bread items. Call 526-2588 for details.

The Tech student athelete advisory committee is participating in the Ohio valley Conference "Twelve Days of Giving" canned food drive which lasts through November 24th. Please give your spare change or canned goods at the tailgate area at football on November 22nd or during the basketball or football games on that day on the south patio. Collections for canned food drive from 11 to 12 and at Wal-Mart in Algood from 4-6pm. All donors will be entered into a drawing for $25 gift certificates from Jackson Street Grill.

Pickett County Relay for Life Christmas Parade of Homes on Saturday December 6th, from 1 until 6pm. Raise your Christmas Spirits, and check out the decorations at 5 of our local community homes. Take home ideas for your own decorations. Make your plans now, and don’t miss this event. $10.00 Advance purchase tickets and maps are available at Regions and People’s Banks in Byrdstown, and the Dale Hollow Shell Station on Highway 111 at Byrdstown. Tickets will be available at any of the homes on Saturday the 6th. Look for the Relay for Life Signs with the balloons, and follow them to one of the homes. Highland Rim Academy is now taking orders on our Christmas Tree Fundraiser. We are purchasing the highest quality grade trees unlike those found in chain stores. Blue Spruce ($30-$39), Fraser Fur ($40.50-$65), Scotch Pine ($32.50-$45), Balsam Fur ($32.25-$47.50), Douglas Fir ($32.25-$47.50). Trees start at 3-5 feet all the way to 8-9 feet. To encourage reading, Prescott Central Middle School Library is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair from Dec. 4-10. UCHRA CASA of Putnam County has a variety of fundraisers planned for the 2008/09 year and could use your skills and energy toward making these events successful. Proceeds go to support CASA’s (Court Appointed Special Advocates’) efforts to provide a voice for abused or neglected children who come into the court system. In this time of economic stress and uncertainty, many people need help. For the fourth consecutive year, Cash Express, LLC at 402 E. 10th St. in Cookeville is collecting toys, canned food and coats for the underpriviledged. They are teaming with Genesis House to distribute the items. Anyone wishing to drop of items can do so at Cash Express, Sylvan Learning Center, Hill's IGA or Food Lion.
